Liability Coverage Helped Me Go To My Dream Uni

When I was 17 years old, I learned the importance of being prepared for accidents. The funny thing about accidents is that they come in many different varieties. And they can occur to anyone at anytime. They can be your fault or someone else’s fault. Since you don’t know when one will present itself, you just have to prepared. Public liability insurance is the best way that you can do that, no matter what your situation might be.

My parents are actually where I learned this very valuable lesson. You see, they helped me to purchase a my first car at that age. It wasn’t anything special, just a little two door coupe. It was mine though and I loved it. I drove it everywhere, often inventing errands to run just so I could drive it more.

Before letting me purchase the car, my parents sat me down to make sure that I understood the responsibility. We discussed things like traffic violations, liability in accidents and auto insurance. I didn’t think they were ever going to let me on the road! But, when I was involved in an auto accident, I suddenly realized the importance of that conversation.

I knew the accident was my fault. I had pulled out into traffic when I wasn’t supposed to, which caused the two cars to hit. One of the cars hit me as well. Luckily, no one was hurt too bad. One of the drivers had a broken arm, but thankfully nothing more serious. And I had managed to escape with just a few bruises.

As expected, I was deemed liable for the medical bills related to the broken arm. This wasn’t a surprise to me, or my parents. When the bills arrived, my dad showed them to me, which really drove home the importance of the extra liability insurance coverage. The amount was more than four years tuition at the private college I planned on attending. Without the liability coverage, I would not have been able to go to the uni of my choice. In fact, my parents would have been out even more money.
